ABSTRACT

A student with multiple problems in tears in a course leader’s office; the course leader’s frustration with processes that have contributed to the distress; and the administrator’s struggle to ensure that all students, including this one, are being treated fairly. This is one scenario illustrating how the management of course administration impacts directly on the student experience. This chapter, which has been written by both administrative and academic staff, examines their different perspectives and highlights the importance of different groups of staff working together effectively with mutual understanding and respect for each other’s expertise. The aim is shared: good course administration supports a good student and staff experience.
