ABSTRACT
Beginning to teach any subject presents a range of opportunities and challenges. Many these will be fairly universal; however, each curriculum area will contain a unique set of issues and citizenship education is no exception. This chapter will focus on two aspects of beginning to teach; a short discussion on the emotions of teaching, linking to a discussion on the ethos of teaching citizenship.
