ABSTRACT

In this relatively brief chapter, I wish to clarify and perhaps to consolidate my views on the role of Molinism in understanding God’s Providence and the relationship between God’s omniscience and human freedom.1 In the fi rst part of the chapter I shall summarize the views I have sought to present elsewhere, attempting to situate Molinism in its intellectual home and highlighting the main features of my position. I then turn to an interesting challenge presented by Thomas Flint; in addressing Flint’s worries, I hope to help us to gain a clearer understanding of the role-and limitationsof Molinism.
