Heating, ventilating and air-conditioning
Heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) are means by which a controlled thermal environment is created within a building. In the case of sports facilities, the aim is not only to achieve comfortable conditions for the building users but also conditions which enhance user performance. Thermal comfort depends on the temperature of the air surrounding the human body, the temperature of adjacent surfaces, the relative humidity of the air and movement by the air. It is a complicated business because it has to take into account the building users, building contents and the building fabric.
