Acoustics

Sports facilities have hard walls, floors and ceilings for resilience against impacts. This accentuates the echo and reverberation of sound within the building enclosure, resulting in poor acoustics. But sports facilities house functions which require good acoustic performance. Examples include dance instruction, music and public address. Even more importantly, no building can be expected to be popular with recreational users unless it facilitates clear, comfortable conversation.
