ABSTRACT
In Chapter 3, we considered the ways in which the rise of NGOs needs to be understood against a broader understanding of development theory, and how different analytical approaches can be used to understand different aspects of NGOs and their work. This chapter turns to the issue of NGOs in relation to development practice, which is a theme also continued in Chapter 5.
