ABSTRACT

During the 2004 presidential election, a Latino-Peter Miguel Camejoran as a candidate for the office of vice president of the United States. Ralph Nader, the Independent Party’s presidential contender, nominated him for that role on Monday, June 21, 2004. Camejo is a first generation Venezuelan American who was born in New York in 1939. He is a political activist, environmentalist, businessperson, and financier. In 1987, Camejo founded Progressive Asset Management of California, an investment firm that conducts socially responsible investments. Nader shared his concepts of social justice and economic policies, noting that “his [Camejo’s] work in advancing socially responsible investment shows his understanding of how we can work within our economic system to advance social justice” (Nader for President 2004: 1).
