ABSTRACT

Three different strategies of data collection were used in this study and both nonviewers and television viewers participated in each. First, in-depth interviews and in-home observations were conducted. Second, questionnaires were completed and third, time-use diaries were filled out. A majority of the nonviewers participated in all three portions of the study; however, the television viewers who participated in the in-depth interviews were not the same as those who filled out the questionnaire and time-use diaries.
