ABSTRACT
Counselors work in many kinds of educational settings-from prekindergarten and early childhood education programs right on up through graduate and professional schools in colleges and universities. e things that counselors and other human service professionals do in the various education settings are as dierent as the settings are varied. (Note that the word counselor is used to describe many dierent position titles. A longer list of those titles can be found at the end of this chapter.) Job descriptions and job functions in an education setting are directed primarily by the guidelines and policies of the particular school and the supervisors or administrators for whom the counselors work more than they are by any standard or universally accepted position descriptions.
