In a class session on professional ethics in an MA TESOL program at a Christian university in southern California, the trainees, who are all evangelical Christians preparing to teach ESL in local adult schools and Intensive English Programs (IEPs) or EFL in international universities and language institutes, are discussing the following scenario:
