ABSTRACT
Idealizations of utopian capitalism and the contemporary world Given Polanyi’s account of the nineteenth-century origins of economic liberalism, we have historically come full circle. On an expanded scale, we are back to nineteenth-century economic liberal idealizations of free markets, free trade, free labor, and private property. These are now brought together by the ideology of ‘Economic Freedom’.
