ABSTRACT
No model can be used without data. These data can only be derived from the past. In the model, parameters and variables may be changed for predictive purposes. We may in some cases be sure how certain numbers will change in the future, but we could instead be uncertain and have to work with estimates. We have to ask ourselves to what extent historical data are relevant for the present and for the future, and what to do if they are not fully relevant.
