ABSTRACT

Trust is hard to achieve and comes only through hard work over time. To earn the trust of others, professional behavior analyst needs to demonstrate steady, consistent temperament and be honest and reliable. It is important for behavior analysts to become trusted professionals so their ideas on important matters are sought out and their opinions are respected. Trusted status is earned in small increments over time. A person who is bubbling over with half-baked thoughts on every topic seems to be someone who is primarily looking for attention rather than someone who can be trusted to offer a sound alternative. H. Bracey asserted that trust also comes from being responsive to those around professional behavior analyst, which is, giving feedback in a constructive, spontaneous, and caring manner. Gaining the trust of colleagues means paying attention to the subtleties of social interactions.
