ABSTRACT
Manos Hatjidakis refers to a series of violent events that occurred in Athens, Greece in April 1985 when university students, anarchists, and other radicals were attacked during protests against an event organized by the new right (New Democracy). Hatjidakis, a famous writer and composer, criticizes the Greek authority’s abuse of power but also points to the ways that we can all turn into monsters of violence without realizing it. This can happen not because we stop being afraid but because we become used to being fearful. In this way, we come to embody the social ontology of fear and property that maintains the imperium’s practices, including the formation of IR theories.
