ABSTRACT

The capacity to enjoy fully what has been received, and the experience of gratitude towards the person who gives it, influence strongly both the character and the relations with other people. It is not for nothing that in saying grace before meals, Christians use the words, “For what we are about to receive may the Lord make us truly thankful.” The words imply that one asks for the one quality-gratitude-which will make one free from resentment and envy.
