ABSTRACT

Globalization is not a new topic for discussion. Many of us have become aware of the changes in our societies and across the world that have come as direct or indirect responses to globalization. Current themes, whether concerning the economy, culture, transnational families or the environment, have become part of our global discussions. We cannot ignore the effects of globalization and how it challenges our notion of stable identities, unchanging traditions, or the processes that effect these changes. Fluidity and flux have come to be significant metaphors for the way we define our cultures and our world.
