[768] Let this be the limit of the writing for me and let the course of the history here conclude—a course which has been prolonged at length. For I have not judged it profitable or opportune to commit what remains to writing. Now if the result of my labor appears helpful to any, thanks be to God, through whom all good is accomplished. But if it makes no contribution, let the fault be ours and the offspring return to me, its father, to be fuel for my memory.33
