ABSTRACT
Few individuals have had their life story written up as many times or from as many perspectives as has Wagner. The following chapter identifies and describes a mere handful of biographies; it deals somewhat more carefully with specialized studies devoted to particular periods of the composer’s life and activities, or to particular places where he lived and worked, or to relationships with particular individuals or groups of persons.
