ABSTRACT

The first case that we will consider is that of “Eva,” a 21-year-old college senior from a Latin American country, studying in the United States. The case of Eva is similar to the case of the “Lady Cloaked in Fog,” to be discussed in Chapter 8, in that both contain a “critical incident” identified by the therapist. Using the DAPP framework and methods to track in detail the developmental processes that occurred over the course of the critical incident, as it is reflected in verbatim transcripts, is the central focus of each chapter. However, in each case we also will examine how the sessions earlier in the course of therapy set the stage for the events that occur in the critical incident. 1
