ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will explore the intersection between law and entertainment. Like entertainment, policy and law both shape and reflect the society in which they are crafted. The formation and enforcement of policy and law involve a collective action of the whole society or its representatives, which entails extensive public discussion and the formation of public opinion on what to do. Different societies are guided by different rights and regulations. Although we will make some international comparisons, we will mostly limit our focus to policies and laws as they have been enacted and enforced in the United States.
