ABSTRACT

Arguably, planning is the most important element in the coaching process. Coaching sessions need to be planned to help performers achieve short-, medium-and long-term goals, which infl uence the content, duration, intensity and structure of the session (Foxon, 2001). Crisfi eld et al. (2003) further suggest that effective plans should be structured to meet the needs of the individual or team, contain specifi c challenging goals and be adaptable to achieve the practice aims and objectives.
