ABSTRACT

DEMOGRAPHIC AND CULTURAL CHANGE Th e United States will undergo dramatic demographic and cultural changes over several decades. Racial minority groups will collectively comprise half of the population in the United States by 2050. Th erefore, more interracial marriages will be consummated over this period and more biracial children will be born. Th e social construction of boundaries between racial groups will change to accommodate the increasing number of biracial individuals. Th e analysis of interracial families is critical to understanding and assessing these transitional aspects of our society.
