ABSTRACT

Section 1 of the 2003 Act sets out the various licensable activities for which5.1.2 some form of authorisation under the Act, a premises licence, a club premises certificate (CPC) or a temporary event notice (TEN), is required.1 Licensable activities encompass all three areas covered by the Act, the sale or supply of alcohol (for which a personal licence is needed and, in the case of a premises licence, there needs to be a designated premises supervisor for the premises), the provision of entertainment and the provision of late night refreshment (LNR). Section 1(1) provides:

For the purposes of this Act the following are licensable activities-(a) the sale by retail of alcohol, (b) the supply of alcohol by or on behalf of a club to, or to the order of, a member of the

club, (c) the provision of regulated entertainment, and (d) the provision of late night refreshment.
