ABSTRACT
One particular question that never fails to arise when the subject of MWLW comes up is, What kind of men are these women married to?
Just as there is no common denominator among MWLW, their husbands also come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Th eir occupations range from factory workers to professors and from civil service employees to chief executive offi cers; their hobbies range from motorcycles to botany. Like any diverse group of men, some were described as virile, others not. While some were intuitive and knew their wives’ preference before their wives realized it themselves; others preferred to live with their heads in the sand, even aft er full disclosure. Depending on their level of selfawareness, the men saw their wives’ same-gender choices as threatening or stimulating.
