The use of the analytical hierarchy and network process for risk management

This chapter demonstrates application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Analytic Network Process (ANP) (multiple criteria decision-making techniques) for risk analysis. If the risk factors are not related to each other the AHP is the method to apply. However, if the identified risk factors are connected to each other the ANP is the method to select. Both the methods have been applied in landfill site selection problems and their effectiveness is demonstrated.
