ABSTRACT

A review of the chapters in this book provides a clear indication that the nature of teachers’ work has been changing rapidly during the first part of the new century. These changes can be related to a number of factors, including, for example, technological developments, globalization or public sector reform. They can also be related to curriculum and pedagogical developments and the increasing significance of the ‘knowledge economy’ as a major influence on education systems.
