chapter  8
— Pre- and Post-Tests
Pages 9

Pre-and post-tests offer two benefits that compensate for the limitations of standardized achievement tests. They are given more frequently, and they are more closely related to classroom instruction. Thus, many schools use pre-and post-tests as a way to gauge improvement between the administration of standardized tests. Like standardized tests, pre-and post-tests also provide a useful approach for diagnosing strengths and weaknesses of classes, individuals, or subgroups.
