ABSTRACT

In this final chapter, you will study the varieties of diagnostic instruments used in audiology. As an audiologist, you will measure the intensity of sounds, and by means of an audiometer, you will present specific levels and types of sounds to patients. You will measure acoustic immittance and otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) within the ear canal. You will measure electric potentials on the surface of the skin, and you may even have the opportunity to assist in surgery in which electrical measurements are made inside the body.
