ABSTRACT

In the oral tradition of ancient Greece, poems were composed by individuals known as ahdÒj (aedos) or raywdÒj (rhapsodos), meaning singer. At the beginning of the Odyssey, Homer refers to the Muse, one of the nine ancient Greek deities of the arts, who tells him the epic story of Odysseus in the form of a song. The word ‘music’ originates from the Greek mousik» (mousike), which is itself derived from the ancient Greek word moÚsa (musa), meaning art of the Muses. Since ancient times, Muses have been a source of inspiration for artists in their creative endeavours. Video on the other hand originates from the Latin word video or videre which means to see and is a relatively new phenomenon by comparison.
