ABSTRACT
Figure skating is one of the few competitive sports in which music currently forms a part of every phase of competition. In fact, among sports that are contested at the Olympic level, only rhythmic gymnastics and synchronised swimming share this distinction. Therefore, figure skating bridges the gap between sport and art in a relatively unique way.
