ABSTRACT

One of the major roles of teachers and coaches in physical activity and sport is to convey information to the performer so as to enhance performance, learning and skill level. The role of instructional strategies in physical activity and sport has been the source of considerable study in the field of motor skill acquisition (e.g. Holding, 1965; Singer, 1975; Williams & Hodges, 2004; Wulf, 2007). Instructional strategies are interventions by an instructor in the motor learning of an individual or group that are presumed to facilitate the process of motor skill acquisition.
