ABSTRACT
It is a pleasure to converse with David Ruccio once more. A few years ago, I was fortunate to be invited to the US as the first holder of the Global Scholars Award. At the end of a week of lectures, I gave a final talk for which the two respondents were Robert Heilbronner and Ruccio himself. Following that interchange, Ruccio and I agreed to keep the debate going in the pages of Rethinking Marxism (which Ruccio now edits). Somehow, that plan did not work out, so I welcome this belated opportunity provided by the current forum to further our discussion.
