Bartók’s inﬂ uences on others
Reveals differences between Bartók’s and Kodály’s works but states that it is easy to detect certain stimuli and inspiration from works of Kodály in Bartók’s music. However, points out that while there are hardly any preserved documents regarding the inﬂ uence of their relationship in their compositions, Bartók’s works show common elements of both their musical activities. States that the inspiration from Kodály’s Psalmus Hungaricus is evident in Bartók’s Cantata Profana. Also, discusses common stylistic features stemming from the Hungarian folk-music idiom.
