Korea in the political economy literature

The developmental alliance (DA) has underpinned Korean industrialisation over the past four decades. Central to the DA has been an ongoing process of collaboration as well as conflict, of shared priorities as well as divergences of interests. And yet, as this chapter will illustrate, the relationship between the state and capital, the two partners of Korea’s modernisation, has been insufficiently appreciated and theorised in the existing literature on the East Asian model.
