ABSTRACT

While there are a number of constructivistic approaches to CBT (see Dobson, 2001), REBT's position on the issue of constructivism is distinctive in that it emphasises that we create or construct our rigid and extreme ideas from our preferences. I have already argued above that this constructivistic tendency is biologically based. What is important to factor in here is the point that I have already made; namely, that we also have a biologically-based tendency to think rationally about life's adversities.
