ABSTRACT

Purdue University Calumet is located in Hammond, Indiana, which is about thirty miles east of Chicago. This area is home to a diverse ethnic population. Three-fourths of Purdue Calumet students are first-generation college students and more than one-third are minority students. Over 90 percent are Indiana residents. More than half of Purdue Calumet students are enrolled on a part-time basis. Enrollment for the spring 2005 semester was around 9,200 students. Purdue Calumet offers associate’s degrees in twenty different fields, bachelor’s degrees in 112 fields, and master’s degrees in fourteen different fields of study.
