Biological Approaches to Gender Development Evolutionary Perspectives on Gender Development: Sex Differences in Behavior Arise
How much of the psychological differences between the sexes discussed in chapters 4 and 5 are related to the biological differences between them discussed in chapter 3? Is our behavior related to our hormones, so that we could make men more like women if we gave them estrogen, and women more like men if we gave them testosterone? How much of the differences between the sexes can be traced back to the differences in their sex chromosomes? These and related questions are the focus of this chapter.
