ABSTRACT
The previous chapters have sought to provide contexts for interpreting and understanding both what is being negotiated and what is at stake in contemporary forms of Indigenous politics, specifically in relation to broader political and philosophical challenges of our day. The next three chapters seek to illustrate this, and-more importantly-to draw attention to the ways Indigenous movements are negotiating these contexts. In these negotiations reside critical perspectives on and resources for ongoing efforts to engage contemporary challenges. The focus of the analysis is especially on the dynamics of sovereignty in the following cases because it is in their engagements with and rearticulations of sovereignty that Indigenous peoples’ movements present both the greatest challenges to and opportunities for contemporary political theorists and others.
