ABSTRACT
African tradition-a set of values, beliefs, rites and systems handed down from generation to generation-is as encompassing as it is encapsulating. Encased in a cultural mystique, the African woman is particularly driven by a community sense as culture obviates individualism and promotes gender bias and asymmetry.
