ABSTRACT

Patients enter psychotherapy for a host of reasons, and, with few exceptions, almost all who seek treatment do so because they c annot fi nd a way to solve their psychological problems. In other words, they are blocked from knowing or understanding something about themselves in a diff erent way from that which they currently do. Th ey come to treatment believing that such knowledge or insight would allow them to be more satisfi ed or to live in a more gratifying or satisfying way.
