ABSTRACT

Lamb, Cochran, and Jackson (1991) hold that supervisors are responsible for training in three broad areas of the supervisee’s pro fessional functioning: (1) ethical knowledge and behavior, (2) com petency, and (3) personal functioning. Although the areas clearly overlap, each deserves separate consideration. However, before we can examine these three areas, it is important to consider relevant ethical codes and guidelines designed to provide direction in regard to the conduct of supervision, and also related to the question of who is qualified to supervise.
