ABSTRACT

Variations in the RR interval in the electrocardiogram provide important information, which can be used for monitoring physiological loading (training and match conditions in soccer) and the stress-recovery process between training and playing days among players. Heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) have been employed to asses training effect indirectly by using the EPOC (excess postexercise oxygen consumption (ml.kg-¹)) prediction method (Rusko et al., 2003).
