ABSTRACT

Sprinting and jumping are the most essential abilities in attaining high-level soccer playing standards. Many efforts have been made in identifying anthropometric, biomechanical and physiological factors in order to establish a more efficient training method for improving the requisite abilities. In particular, the influence of muscular strength on these abilities has been extensively studied, but previous findings remain controversial (Dowson et al., 1998, Kukolj et al., 1999).
