ABSTRACT

During the soccer-specific protocol core temperature and heart rate were measured continuously using a heat-sensitive telemetry pill (CorTemp, HQ Inc., Florida, USA) and short-range radio telemetry (Polar S610i, Polar Electro, Kempele, Finland), respectively. The soccer-specific protocol was followed by a test of exercise capacity (Cunningham and Faulkner, 1969). Analysis of data was conducted using one-way ANOVAs with repeated measures except for performance, which was analysed using a Wilcoxon test. All results are reported as the mean ± the standard error of the mean (SEM) and a level of P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.
