ABSTRACT

When considering the physical effects of dredging and reclamation, an understanding of the processes that take place at the particular site is required in order to be able to determine or forecast how the system will develop as a consequence of the changes occurring with or without the project. A particular project area often consists of different types of physical “systems”, or the project may affect a larger area with different types of systems present. However, a preliminary assessment of the type of system present in the project area may tell what kind of typical effects one can expect as a result of a specific type of dredging or reclamation project.
