I had no idea where to begin. We had just named our new Committee to Preserve Asylum, but weeks would pass before we’d be able to draft its statement, collect signatures, or communicate officially with senators. Simpson might be able to get a mark-up in December, while we were still mobilizing. We had to make our issue visible right away.
