ABSTRACT

How can I promote my monologue? There is no limit to the number of ways you can promote your show. But it is always a good idea whenever marketing anything to first ask yourself, Who is my target market? Obviously you want to get word of your monologue to theatrically minded people who regularly attend live performances. But perhaps you can be even more specific depending upon the theme of your monologue. If it’s about being married for a long time and raising a family, older people are perhaps your ideal market. Or if your monologue is about coming out of the closet, then you may want to consider putting up flyers in gay or lesbian bars. If your show’s about growing up as an athlete, target sports fans. If it’s about your pet mouse, what about going to the park and handing out flyers to animal lovers walking their dogs or putting up a poster in a nearby pet shop? Keep asking yourself, Where is my audience? What do they do, and where do they frequent?
