ABSTRACT

For example, you start your monologue sitting down, but at one point you decide to stand up. Why? Are you so excited that at that point, in the middle of some tale, you are suddenly moved to stand up and use your entire body to express yourself? If so, fine. That makes sense. If the audience feels that it is credible, they will not lose their focus. Actually, they are much more apt to increase their focus (always a blessing!). As you finish that brief story, you decide to take a few steps to the right. Why? Did you see some gum stuck to the floor of the stage, and you want to go and investigate? Fine, that makes sense (so long as you let the audience in on it somehow). Or maybe you want to silently increase the connection with the audience members to your right and deliver the next few lines of your script to them in particular, almost as if you just spotted an especially attentive face. Again, fine. That makes sense.
