ABSTRACT

Electronic Mail (\Ú »«lek»«tra‹nik «ma¤l) It’s not likely you could find any campus where people do not wonder whether e-mail is more bane or boon. It makes staying in touch with people much easier, but it also may dramatically increase the number of messages you receive. Some departments treat e-mail access to faculty as an inalienable right for students. Some faculty who sponsor e-mail discussion groups for their classes invest them with similar moral imperatives: any comment posted by a student must receive faculty feedback. Few thought the computer would literally become the temple of the academic workplace, but perhaps these new religious practices will lose some of their appeal once they become routine.
