ABSTRACT

When discussing contemporary education in Africa the historian Joseph Ki-Zerbo (1990) of Burkina Faso quotes the African proverb above. In his book Educate or Perish he voices an SOS call to educators in Africa to set immediately to the task of designing an education of Africa and for Africa. It is important for Africa to return to her roots, to restore the cultural traditions of various parts of Africa.
